Methodology

Percentage changes use the corresponding value in the earlier year as the base. Yearly totals sum FAO Crops and Livestock Products stocks quantity (Element 5112) for item Turkeys, 2020-2024. For turkeys stocks, quantities are shown as whole head. The 2024 turkeys stocks ranking and shares use 2024 listed quantities. In the turkeys stocks data, zero means a reported nil or negligible stock; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For turkeys stocks changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Stocks record the standing flock, not a production flow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which countries stopped reporting turkey stocks in 2024?

Ten countries with reported 2023 values did not have a 2024 value. The largest 2023 stock among them was Germany's 8,999,000 head, followed by Portugal with 2,691,000 and Romania with 1,137,000. Blank cells indicate that no quantity was reported, not that the stock was zero.

Does Turkey here mean the country or the bird?

Here "turkey" means the bird. The figures measure turkey stocks, the number of birds reported in each country, not the human population of Türkiye. In 2024 the United States had the largest listed turkey stock at 67,000,000 head.

Who is the new reporter since 2020?

Venezuela reported 383,000 head in 2024 and nothing in 2020. Blank cells mean not reported rather than zero, so Venezuela sits outside the 2020-2024 change universe with a small listed weight.
