Canada holds 137,779 tonnes of listed wafers and rice paper supply in 2023 — 10.3 percent of a 1,339,494-tonne total, only 1.09 times the Philippines at 126,098 tonnes. The latest year rose 5.3 percent as Germany rebounded from zero to 31,732 tonnes and Türkiye climbed from 273 to 27,270, while Myanmar fell 94.9 percent and Belarus 93.0 percent. Five years added 34.3 percent on Russia's 48,118-tonne gain from 159, with the United Kingdom, Germany, the Philippines, Türkiye and Indonesia adding behind it. Luxembourg tops per person at 32.76 grams a day.

Canada Ahead of the Philippines by 1.09 Times

The 2023 table opens with Canada at 137,779 tonnes, the Philippines second at 126,098 and the United States third at 70,312. France and Iraq follow at 61,221 and 59,452 tonnes.

The top three reporters accounted for 24.9 percent of the listed total, the top five 34.0 percent and the top ten 50.9 percent. The gap between first and second is 11,681 tonnes. Per capita, Luxembourg's 32.76 grams per person per day lead Latvia at 22.83 grams.

Up 5.3 Percent in 2023 on Two Rebounds

Across the 163 reporters with values in both 2022 and 2023, listed supply moved from 1,272,472 tonnes to 1,339,494 tonnes, up 67,021 tonnes or 5.3 percent. The two years share the same 163 reporters, with none entering or leaving. Germany added 31,732 tonnes from a reported zero, Türkiye 26,997 tonnes from 273 tonnes, Denmark 18,543 (up 574.6 percent), Russia 11,784 (up 32.3 percent) and the Netherlands 10,046 (up 148.7 percent).

On the declining side, Myanmar fell 15,760 tonnes (down 94.9 percent), Belarus fell 11,161 tonnes (down 93.0 percent) and the United States fell 10,462 tonnes (down 13.0 percent). Germany's rebound to 31,732 tonnes and Türkiye's rise from 273 to 27,270 tonnes together added 58,729 tonnes against a net increase of 67,021, with Myanmar and Belarus absorbing part of the growth.

Five Years Up 34.3 Percent Against Canada's Fall

For the 158 reporters with values in both 2019 and 2023, listed supply rose from 996,011 tonnes to 1,337,773 tonnes, up 341,762 tonnes or 34.3 percent. The 2019 universe holds 160 reporters with values against 163 in 2023; Cuba and Djibouti, with a combined 1,280 tonnes in 2019, have no 2023 value, while five reporters with a combined 1,720 tonnes entered, led by Nepal at 723 tonnes. Russia added 48,118 tonnes from 159 tonnes, the United Kingdom 34,057 (up 134.6 percent), Germany 31,366 from 366 tonnes, the Philippines 29,598 (up 30.7 percent), Türkiye 27,163 from 107 tonnes and Indonesia 18,980 (up 327.1 percent).

On the declining side, Canada fell 19,570 tonnes (down 12.4 percent). Russia contributes 14.1 percent of the five-year net increase, with the United Kingdom, Germany, the Philippines and Türkiye adding the next-largest shares.
