Yoghurt, with Additives Consumption by Country

Brazil recorded the highest reported food supply of yoghurt with additives in 2023, at 955,593 tonnes, accounting for approximately 14.3 percent of the listed country total. Belgium ranked first in the per-capita comparison, at 76.3 grams per person per day. These FAO figures measure food available for human consumption, not the amount people actually eat.

Germany placed fourth at 547,036 tonnes, with Italy fifth at 375,747 and Belgium sixth at 326,216. Poland, Jordan, the Netherlands and Chile closed the top ten between 219,156 and 274,489 tonnes. The top three held 36.9 percent of the annual listed food supply total, and the top five 50.7 percent. Brazil had the highest listed food supply, while Belgium had the highest per-capita food supply.

• French additive yoghurt thins: down 72,481 tonnes, or 10.3 percent, the deepest latest-year loss.
• Iraqi additive yoghurt multiplies: up 69,877 tonnes, or 462.1 percent, the fastest percentage move.
• Irish additive yoghurt doubles: up 51,524 tonnes, or 151.2 percent, entering the top fifteen.
• British additive yoghurt eases: down 32,882 tonnes, or 20.5 percent, slipping out of the top ten.

France Slips in Yoghurt, with Additives

France lost 72,481 tonnes between 2022 and 2023, down 10.3 percent to 634,509 tonnes. The United Kingdom lost 32,882 tonnes, down 20.5 percent. Russia shed 20,807 tonnes, down 71.5 percent. Iraq added 69,877 tonnes, up 462.1 percent. Ireland added 51,524 tonnes, up 151.2 percent. Iran added 25,335 tonnes, up 15.2 percent. Brazil added 21,799 tonnes, up 2.3 percent. Jordan added 17,350 tonnes, up 6.9 percent. The 149 countries present in both years rose from 6,558,859 tonnes to 6,665,187 tonnes, up 106,328 tonnes, or 1.6 percent, with two arrivals carrying 924 tonnes.

Brazil's Rise in Reported Supply Since 2019

Between 2019 and 2023, the 145 countries present in both years grew from 5,474,572 tonnes to 6,652,393 tonnes, up 1,177,821 tonnes, or 21.5 percent. Brazil added 955,578 tonnes from 15.28 tonnes in 2019, accounting for 81.1 percent of the net gain. Iran added 153,662 tonnes, up 403.4 percent. Spain added 102,422 tonnes, up 13.4 percent. Finland added 84,715 tonnes from 1,012. Jordan added 66,646 tonnes, up 32.9 percent. France lost 146,557 tonnes, down 18.8 percent. Germany shed 85,066 tonnes, down 13.5 percent. The United Kingdom gave up 53,103 tonnes, down 29.4 percent. Five countries left with 24,703 tonnes, against six arrivals with 13,718.

Belgium Tops Yoghurt, with Additives per Person

Belgium's 76.3 grams a day beat Jordan's 64.45 in second and Serbia's 58.93 in third. Montenegro sat fourth at 52.87 grams, with Portugal at 52.14 and Spain at 49.69. Ireland, Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands followed below 45.2 grams.

What the Yoghurt, with Additives Data Covers

Yoghurt with additives for human consumption is recorded in tonnes and daily grams per person for each reporting country over 2019-2023. Annual totals sum reporting countries only. Brazil rose from a very small reported base in 2019. The tonnage figures show total reported supply; the per-person figures adjust that supply for population size.

Brazil's reported supply rose from 15.28 tonnes in 2019; because the starting value was extremely small, no meaningful percentage is stated for that move. Finland rose from 1,012 tonnes in 2019 to 85,727 tonnes in 2023. Iraq's 462.1 percent latest rate starts near 15,000 tonnes. Russia fell 71.5 percent lately yet still reports. Afghanistan fell to a reported zero in 2023 from 19,411 tonnes in 2019, and Bosnia and Herzegovina from 718.37 tonnes in 2022, so those zeros merit checking against the source.

FAO Supply Utilization Accounts record tonnage for human consumption as element 5141 and daily grams per person as element 665, shown for additive yoghurt across 2019-2023. Percentages rest on the earlier year, and no percentage is stated when the earlier-year value is zero. The dataset contains 157 countries after aggregates are removed, 151 with 2023 values. Only countries holding values at both endpoints enter comparisons. The 2023 listed total of 6,666,111 tonnes is the sum of the 151 countries with a 2023 value. A reported zero is kept, a blank is missing, and under-1,000 values keep two decimals.
