Cereals n.e.c. Exports by Country
Romania multiplied its cereals n.e.c. exports more than five-fold in four years, while Sweden, the 2020 runner-up, fell by 43.0 percent. The figures below aggregate FAO Detailed Trade Matrix bilateral records for item Cereals n.e.c. (cereals not classified elsewhere), 2020-2024, pairing export quantity in tonnes with export value in current US dollars. The table lists 106 countries; 67 reported a 2024 quantity, and the 2024 listed quantity total is 254,492 tonnes. The 2024 country list for cereals n.e.c. exports runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.
France was the largest cereals n.e.c. exporter in the 2024 listed data with 73,389 tonnes, followed by Romania with 50,576 tonnes and Sweden with 30,205 tonnes. The Czech Republic ranked fourth with 20,924 tonnes, ahead of China (10,816 tonnes), the Netherlands (9,006 tonnes), India (8,610 tonnes) and the United States (6,849 tonnes). On export value, the United States led at 25,545,000 US dollars, ahead of France (19,955,000) and Romania (14,605,000). Romania's four-year climb defines this table: from 9,188 tonnes in 2020 to 50,576 tonnes in 2024 (+41,388 tonnes, up 450.5 percent), including +23,581 tonnes (up 87.4 percent) in the last year alone. Sweden moved the other way between 2020 and 2024, falling 22,751 tonnes (down 43.0 percent) from 52,956 tonnes, with the 2020 runner-up now at three-fifths of Romania. France holds 28.8 percent of the listed 2024 total, about 1.45 times Romania; the top three together hold 60.6 percent, the top five 73.1 percent and the top ten 87.3 percent. France, Romania, Sweden and the Czech Republic are followed by China in the top five by quantity, while the Netherlands ranks sixth. China, India and the United States also appear among the leading exporters, with the United States leading on value despite ranking eighth on quantity. Between 2023 and 2024, the common reporter universe (62 countries with data in both years) rose from 221,522 tonnes to 254,413 tonnes, a change of 32,891 tonnes (14.8 percent). The totals listed for each year were 235,055 tonnes (81 reporters) and 254,492 tonnes (67 reporters). The Czech Republic added 5,008 tonnes (up 31.5 percent) and Estonia 3,088 tonnes (from 235.84 to 3,324 tonnes) from a small base. Denmark fell from 14,080 tonnes to 25.82 tonnes (down 99.8 percent), a reported near-zero flow rather than a reporting gap, while India fell 5,834 tonnes (down 40.4 percent). Between 2020 and 2024, the common reporter universe (58 countries with data in both years) rose from 245,600 tonnes to 250,346 tonnes, a change of 4,746 tonnes (1.9 percent). The totals listed for each year were 265,467 tonnes (84 reporters) and 254,492 tonnes (67 reporters); 26 countries reporting in 2020 (19,867 tonnes combined, led by Laos with 7,746 tonnes) did not report in 2024. France added 5,323 tonnes (up 7.8 percent). Spain fell 12,242 tonnes (down 77.3 percent) and Uganda 4,775 tonnes (down 80.9 percent). Residual categories demand exact denominators: "n.e.c." (not elsewhere classified) gathers every cereal outside the named items, so all shares here divide the 2024 listed quantity total of 254,492 tonnes across 67 reporters. Yearly reporter totals sum FAO Detailed Trade Matrix bilateral flows for item Cereals n.e.c., export quantity and export value, 2020-2024. For cereals n.e.c. exports, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes; values remain full current US dollars without inflation adjustment. In the cereals n.e.c. exports data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For cereals n.e.c. exports changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Partner-derived gap filling and food-aid additions can apply, and unreconciled bilateral pairs mean an export entry and its mirror import may disagree.Cereals n.e.c. Exports by Country in 2024

Frequently Asked Questions
How did Romania pass Sweden?
Romania grew from 9,188 tonnes in 2020 to 50,576 tonnes in 2024 (+41,388 tonnes, up 450.5 percent) while Sweden fell from 52,956 to 30,205 tonnes (down 43.0 percent). Both trajectories use reported quantities from both endpoint years; the table attributes no causes.
Why does the United States lead on value from eighth place?
The United States reported 6,849 tonnes (eighth) and 25,545,000 US dollars (first) for 2024. Dividing each country's own value by its own quantity for the same year produces the gap; the dataset observes reported values, not prices.
What does Denmark's 25.82 tonnes mean?
Denmark fell from 14,080 tonnes in 2023 to 25.82 tonnes in 2024 (down 99.8 percent). Both endpoint values are reported in the cereals n.e.c. series, indicating near-zero trade rather than a missing cell.
What does this cereals n.e.c. exports dataset not cover?
Whether cereal output rose or fell, who consumed it, or what it cost to produce; none of that is in this dataset. It records export quantities and values by reporter, so only export-side comparisons hold.
