Goat Fat, Unrendered Consumption by Country
Pakistan recorded the largest reported food supply of unrendered goat fat in 2023, at 33,680 tonnes, followed by Bangladesh at 16,765 tonnes and Nigeria at 6,179 tonnes. Pakistan accounted for about 31.3 percent of the listed total. Mongolia ranked first per person at 0.43 grams a day, ahead of Pakistan at 0.37 grams. The listed 2023 total was 107,457 tonnes, and 128 of the 129 country rows reported a value for that year, 123 of them above zero. These figures measure food available for human consumption, not the quantity actually eaten.
Ethiopia placed fourth by volume at 5,636 tonnes, and the three leading countries together accounted for about 52.7 percent of the listed 2023 total. Greece lost 755.75 tonnes between 2022 and 2023, down 86.0 percent to 123.47 tonnes. Malawi lost 330 tonnes, down 14.9 percent, and Mongolia shed 257.23 tonnes, down 32.5 percent. Kenya added 567 tonnes, up 38.8 percent, Ethiopia added 1,533 tonnes, up 37.4 percent, and Pakistan added 864 tonnes, up 2.6 percent. The 127 countries with a value in both years rose from 104,769 tonnes to 107,457 tonnes, up 2,688 tonnes, or 2.6 percent, with Belize the only country to join the comparison. Between 2019 and 2023, the 126 countries with a value in both years rose from 100,559 tonnes to 107,443 tonnes, up 6,884 tonnes, or 6.8 percent. Türkiye recorded the largest increase, adding 3,483 tonnes to reach 3,980 tonnes, an increase of about 701 percent from a small starting level of 496.76 tonnes. Pakistan added 3,392 tonnes, up 11.2 percent. Australia reported zero in 2019 and rose to 1,257 tonnes, so no percentage applies to that country. Myanmar recorded the largest decline, losing 3,296 tonnes, down 91.9 percent, while Mongolia shed 1,478 tonnes, down 73.5 percent, and Burkina Faso gave up 1,332 tonnes, down 57.3 percent. Belize and India entered the comparison with 2023 values and no 2019 value, while Cuba reported 34.83 tonnes in 2019 and none afterwards. Mongolia recorded 0.43 grams a day in 2023, ahead of Pakistan at 0.37 grams in second and Oman at 0.36 grams in third. Yemen sat fourth at 0.31 grams, with Nepal at 0.27 grams and Bangladesh at 0.27 grams. Pakistan, first by volume, also placed second per person, so the two rankings partly overlap here even though Mongolia's national total is far smaller. Unrendered goat fat available for human consumption is recorded in tonnes and in grams per person per day for each reporting country over 2019-2023. Annual totals sum reporting countries only. Total tonnage shows the scale of reported food supply, while grams per person per day adjust the figures for population size. Values in this item are small, and the per-person column is reported at low precision, so zeros there need care: 36 country rows show zero grams for 2023, and 31 of those record positive tonnage, which points to rounding rather than a measured absence. Five countries reported zero tonnes for 2023, including New Zealand after 4.43 tonnes in 2022. A reported zero is a recorded value and a blank cell is missing data, so neither one should be read on its own as proof that availability stopped. The source is FAOSTAT Supply Utilization Accounts. Element 5141 reports food supply quantity in tonnes and element 665 reports it in grams per capita per day, for goat fat, unrendered, over 2019-2023. Annual totals sum country records with reported values, excluding regional and aggregate records. Of the 129 country rows, 128 reported a value in 2023 and 123 of those were above zero. Comparisons between two years use only countries with values at both endpoints, which gives 127 countries for 2022-2023 and 126 for 2019-2023, and the country count and both totals come from that shared set. Percentage changes use the earlier year as the base and are not calculated when that base is zero, which is the case for Australia in 2019. Reported zeros are kept as values, blank cells are treated as missing, and values under 1,000 tonnes are shown to two decimals.

Methodology
Frequently Asked Questions
Which countries have the highest unrendered goat fat supply?
Pakistan ranked first at 33,680 tonnes in 2023, ahead of Bangladesh at 16,765 tonnes and Nigeria at 6,179 tonnes, or about 31.3 percent of the listed total.
Why did the listed supply in Türkiye rise so sharply?
Türkiye's reported supply increased from 496.76 tonnes in 2019 to 3,980 tonnes in 2023. The figures establish the size of the increase but not its cause, so further production or food-supply evidence would be needed.
Which country ranked first per person?
Mongolia ranked first at 0.43 grams per person per day, ahead of Pakistan at 0.37 grams and Oman at 0.36 grams, while Pakistan also led on total volume.
What does a zero in the per-person column mean?
It can reflect rounding at the source rather than a measured absence, since 31 of the 36 rows showing zero grams for 2023 also record positive tonnage, so such zeros need care.
Which countries reported zero tonnes in 2023?
Five did, including New Zealand after 4.43 tonnes in 2022, Austria, Finland, Georgia and Switzerland; a reported zero is a recorded value rather than missing data.
