The top three reporters accounted for 51.4 percent of the listed total, the top five 65.0 percent and the top ten 75.5 percent. Per capita, Belarus's 14.91 grams per person per day from 49,600 tonnes lead Denmark at 10.99 grams.

The Listed Total Fell 7.3 Percent in 2023

Among the 174 reporters with data in both 2022 and 2023, the listed food supply decreased from 3,453,154 tonnes to 3,200,398 tonnes, a decline of 252,756 tonnes (7.3 percent). The two years share the same 174 reporters in the comparison; Trinidad and Tobago entered with 1,119 tonnes and no reporter left. Brazil fell 172,963 tonnes (down 31.7 percent), Germany fell 65,156 tonnes (down 17.5 percent), Russia fell 47,330 tonnes (down 26.0 percent), Venezuela fell 21,042 tonnes (down 50.7 percent), the United Kingdom fell 16,057 tonnes (down 7.2 percent) and the Czech Republic fell 14,496 tonnes (down 100.0 percent).

On the gaining side, the United States added 75,882 tonnes (up 8.5 percent) and China added 37,020 tonnes (up 19.4 percent). Brazil's fall from 546,301 to 373,338 tonnes against a net decline of 252,756 accounts for most of it, with Germany and Russia adding the next-largest falls.

The Five-Year Common Total Rose 12.2 Percent

For the 173 reporters with data in both 2019 and 2023, the listed food supply rose from 2,850,834 tonnes to 3,199,880 tonnes, a gain of 349,046 tonnes (12.2 percent). The 2019 universe includes 174 reporters with reported values, while the 2023 universe includes 175; Cuba, with 14 tonnes in 2019, had no reported 2023 value, while Trinidad and Tobago and the United Arab Emirates entered with a combined 1,638 tonnes. The United States added 165,133 tonnes (up 20.6 percent), China added 100,090 tonnes (up 78.5 percent), Russia added 62,845 tonnes (up 87.1 percent), Germany added 61,419 tonnes (up 24.9 percent), the Netherlands added 30,926 tonnes (up 125.8 percent), Mexico fell 29,982 tonnes (down 57.6 percent) and Peru added 27,267 tonnes (up 166.5 percent).

The United Kingdom fell 31,065 tonnes (down 13.1 percent) from 2019 to 2023, despite a higher 2020 value. The United States contributes 47.3 percent of the five-year net increase, so its rise from 800,815 to 965,948 tonnes leads the growth with China, Russia and Germany behind it.

Rolled Oats Consumption by Country: Quick Answer

In 2023, FAO data recorded 3,201,517 tonnes of listed rolled oats food supply across 175 reporters. The United States had the largest total at 965,948 tonnes, followed by Brazil at 373,338 tonnes and Germany at 307,671 tonnes. Belarus had the highest per-capita food supply at 14.91 grams per person per day. These figures represent food available for human consumption rather than a direct measurement of how much rolled oats people actually ate.

Methodology

Percentage changes use the corresponding value in the earlier year as the base. Yearly totals use FAO Supply Utilization Accounts food supply quantity (Element 5141, tonnes), while the per-capita figures use food supply quantity (Element 665, g/capita/day) for Oats, rolled from 2019 through 2023. The food supply quantity measure represents the quantity available for human consumption during the reference period. It is not a direct measure of the amount actually eaten, because food available for human consumption is not the same as actual dietary intake. No percentage change is shown where the base-year value is zero.

The reporter universe for this item contains 177 reporters. The tables list reporters only; aggregate rows such as World, regions and China (aggregate) are excluded, while China figures refer to the China reporter. For year-to-year comparisons, only reporters with values in both endpoint years are included in the arithmetic. A zero indicates a displayed value of zero, while an empty cell indicates that no value is available for that reporter and year.
