About British Virgin Islands
The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is a British Overseas Territory located in the Caribbean to the east of Puerto Rico. Comprising approximately 60 islands, it is renowned as one of the world's premier sailing and yachting destinations, with consistent trade winds and picturesque anchorages.
The economy is one of the most prosperous in the Caribbean, driven by the "twin pillars" of financial services and tourism. The yacht chartering industry generates the majority of tourism revenue. As a leading offshore financial center, the BVI has a significant number of registered international businesses.
The culture is a blend of African and European influences. Fungi music is the traditional music of the islands. While a British territory, most vehicles are imported from the U.S., leading to the unusual situation of driving on the left side of the road in left-hand-drive cars. The capital is Road Town on the island of Tortola.
