About Turks and Caicos Islands
The Turks and Caicos Islands is a British Overseas Territory located southeast of the Bahamas. The territory consists of the larger Caicos Islands and the smaller Turks Islands. The economy is almost entirely dependent on upscale tourism and offshore financial services.
The islands are known for their pristine white-sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and the world's third-largest coral reef system, making it a premier destination for diving, snorkeling, and water sports. Grace Bay Beach on Providenciales is consistently ranked among the best beaches in the world.
There is no income tax, and the government actively promotes offshore banking and insurance. The United States is the main source of tourists and the primary trading partner. The capital is Cockburn Town on Grand Turk island, which is also a major cruise ship port.
