About Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is teardrop-shaped island nation with pristine beaches and ancient Buddhist heritage. The country produces world's finest Ceylon tea in highland plantations. Sri Lankan culture emphasizes Buddhism, traditional arts, and peaceful coexistence.

The nation has tropical monsoon climate with diverse ecosystems from beaches to mountains. Sri Lanka has presidential republic with democratic governance and ethnic diversity. The country has growing tourism industry and agricultural economy.

Colombo is commercial capital while Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte is official capital. Sri Lanka has UNESCO World Heritage Sites including ancient cities and temples. The nation has Sinhala and Tamil as official languages.

Traditional Sri Lankan culture includes colorful festivals, classical dancing, and craft traditions. The country has Buddhist majority with Hindu, Muslim, and Christian minorities. Sri Lankan cuisine features rice, curry, and coconut with spicy flavors.
